Our Systematic Destruction of an Entire Culture

Published by nairb2003 at 9:22 pm under West is Worst Edit This

If you’ve been reading the internet news on various websites, then you should have seen a recent story. The story is about one of the largest diamond ever. It was found in Africa. At first this may just seem as nothing; it may appear to you to not hurt or help anyone. What the article didn’t talk tell you was how it was found. It is common knowledge that blood diamonds, or diamonds that are found by forced labor, is used in Africa even to this day. We must wonder how was this diamond found, and if it was found that should we even allow it to be sold, or should we further allow these slave camps to go on. These camps destroy a culture that is already so hurt from the rest of the world, mainly the West’s colonialism in Africa. Even if this wasn’t found by a blood diamond, imagine the effect that this will have on the rest of Africa. More blood diamond camps will start up, and the ones already in effect will push their people even harder. We should rally against all diamonds found in Africa, because that will be the only way to stop these camps without hurting their culture. Furthermore, we should re-evaluate our relationship with Africa, so we can end the West’s destruction on their culture.-A smart observer

I really don’t know what to say. I try to explain to people about diamonds, but most of them act like Bill Maher’s friend who, when told about the treatment of villagers, and hacking of limbs replied, “both arms?”.

And people wonder why humanitarian aid is necessary…
